AESTHETIC
VaST’s work is modern, contemporary and eclectic. The studio’s style is inspired by the Bauhaus school, modernism, prairie style and the Case Study Program. Although our team doesn’t believe in creating a false sense of history, we do enjoy the challenge of working on projects in established neighborhoods and imbuing them with contemporary elements that harmonize with or act as a pleasant juxtaposition to the surrounding architecture. Our ultimate goal is to create an environment that functions well, looks beautiful and uses resources wisely. |

BACKGROUND
VaST was founded in 2000 on an impassioned dedication to high-performance architecture, art and design. Principals, Joseph Vigil and Brandy LeMae — a dynamic husband and wife team — are graduates of the University of Colorado: Joseph from the School of Environmental Design and Brandy from the Department of Fine Art. Vigil is a Licensed Architect and has been working in the field of architecture for over 16 years. LeMae is a LEED Accredited Professional and a National Kitchen and Bath Association member.
Ana Aitken is fluent in Spanish and is a graduate of the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design where she received a BA in Interior Design with an emphasis in Green Design. Architectural Interns, Jacob Lovoi and Alicia Ajayi, are both graduates of CU Boulder School of Environmental Design. Associate Landscape Designer, Julie Hauser, has been working in the field of landscape design and horticulture for over nine years. She is a specialist in xeriscaping, permaculture and nativescaping. Together we take pride in offering dedicated service to our clients. We specialize in:

- multi-family rehabilitation and new construction
- small commercial and mixed-use development
- tenant finish for restaurant, personal service, technical office, and retail
- historic renovation and adaptive reuse

SERVICE
VaST is a full service architecture, interior design, and landscape firm that provides professional, eco-centered design, planning, construction administration and LEED consulting services. We work for state, county, municipal, non-profit and private clients throughout the Colorado Front Range and out of state. We know the best design solutions are a result of strong communication between the user and the designer. The success of a project is directly measured by the success of the client-architect relationship. VaST successfully integrates current design technologies, a qualified and creative team of design professionals, and an unyielding desire to satisfy our clients. |

APPROACH
VaST maintains involvement in all aspects of the design and construction processes. To design a project that fits our clients’ program, we must first understand their desires, requirements, budget and taste. Working collaboratively with all project stake-holders, we explore ideas to create successful solutions for each project. We work closely with our clients to fully integrate the interior and the landscape with the architecture. We often assist clients in finding a General Contractor and negotiating a competitive contract. Our team is involved in the project from inception through completion and is accountable for the coordination of the consultants. We expect them to share our commitment to meeting the project’s objectives. We know that a solid team leads to an outstanding project that stays on budget and has minimal change orders. Personal attention from each team member makes our projects successful. |

SUSTAINABILITY
Our team takes a holistic approach to design — identifying sustainable alternatives at every stage to create spaces that meet clients’ needs while decreasing the overall impact on the environment. We help clients make appropriate choices to maximize the potential of any given structure, interior or landscape. We work alongside our clients to create spaces that are functional and efficient. The result — high quality projects constructed with materials that are sustainable, durable and easy to maintain. For VaST, sustainablity is not an after the fact add-on, it is something that is at the forefront of our thinking during all aspects of design and material selection. We operate on the belief that excellent design must incorporate sustainable, green and energy efficient ideas, products and technologies. We strive to incorporate these into every project while working within the project budget. |

RECOGNITION
VaST is an award winning design firm. Our work has been featured in Dwell, 1 Magazine, 5280, Ultimate Home Design, and on HGTV programs “Beyond the Box” and “Worlds Greenest Homes.” Joseph Vigil is considered an expert in his field and has been quoted in several publications including, Boulder County Business Report, Builder Magazine, and ForbesLife Mountain Times. VaST also contributed to Sustainable Residential Interiors by Associates 3, David Johnson’s book, Green Building From the Ground Up!, and Green Homes: Dwellings for the 21st Century by E.
